Christian McCaffrey of the Carolina Panthers has been quarterback Cam Newton’s main target this season so far, and as in main target, I mean main receiving target. But wait, isn’t McCaffrey a running back? Yes, he is. However, with offensive coordinator Norv Turner’s new offensive scheme, McCaffrey has caught 20 passes in two games. Not to mention the 14 receptions he had this past weekend against the Atlanta Falcons.
The reason to get the ball to McCaffrey in any way possible is because he is so elusive and quick. But, through two games this year, McCaffrey has 18 rushing attempts for 87 rushing yards and 20 receptions for 147 receiving yards. With all of those receptions and rushes through two games, McCaffrey has been hit – a lot – and not just hit to be tackled, he bounces off and breaks so many tackles, he definitely is sore on Monday’s. Does that mean you take him off your roster because the Panthers are going to rest him? No way, keep playing him until he runs out of gas because he is going to score you fantasy points.
